Beef Roast - Rosy aunty

Ingredients:
1/2 kg beef (cut into 2 to 3 pieces)

For the marinade
1/4 tsp turmeric  powder 
3/4 tsp chilli powder 
1/2 tsp cumin powder 
1/2 tsp garam masala powder 
11/2  tsp pepper powder 
2 tsp ginger paste 
2 tsp garlic paste
1 tbsp vinegar
1 tsp salt

For the roast 
3 kashmiri chillies 
1" cinnamon bark
6 cloves
10 pepper corns 
2 medium potatoes or as required 
3 medium onions or as required 
oil as required 

Steps:
  1. Peel and slice the potatoes into medium thin slices, fry and keep aside (sprinkle a little salt on the potato slices before frying)  

  2. Wash and drain the meat and keep aside. 

  3. In a large bowl, add turmeric powder, chilli powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder, pepper  powder, ginger paste, garlic paste, vinegar and salt and make a paste. 
  4. Prick the meat pieces with a fork and apply the marinade and refrigerate overnight.  

  5. Peel and slice the onions into roundels and keep aside. 

  6. In a pressure cooker, heat 1 to 2 tbsp oil.
  7. Add cinnamon, cloves, pepper corns and chillies (break chillies into pieces)
  8. When pepper corns start popping, add the meat and cook, stirring on medium high heat till the colour changes
  9. Add 1 1/2 cup of water and pressure cook till the meat is cooked (time taken to cook depends on the meat). Remove and cool.

  10. Slice the beef and return to the gravy and cook till the gravy thickens up and is almost dry. 

  11. Separately, heat oil in a pan. Add onion roundels and fry till they turn light brown 
  12. Add meat and mix well 
  13. Add salt if needed and continue frying for a while, stirring occasionally 
  14. Add the fried potato slices, mix and switch off the flame. 
  15. ENJOY!

Notes:
  • You can fry tomato roundels and mix along with the fried onion, meat and potatoes (optional)
