Green Masala Chicken Biryani - Milli

Ingredients:
1 kg chicken
1 large onion (sliced)
1 tomato (chopped)

For the rice
2 cups basmati rice
1 cinnamon stick
6-7 cloves
4 cups water
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp ghee

To grind 
2 large onions
1 large bunch coriander leaves 
1/4 bunch mint leaves
1" ginger
6-7 garlic pods
5 green chillis
1 tsp pepper corns
1 tsp jeera seeds
1 cinnamon stick
8-10 cloves
1 marble size ball of tamarind
1/2 tsp turmeric

To garnish 
1 large onion (fried in ghee till brown)
coriander leaves
1/2 tsp ghee

Steps 
  1. Heat ghee. 
  2. Add 1 sliced onion, 1/4 tsp salt and fry till golden. Add a tomato and fry well. 
  3. Add the ground masala and fry till the raw smell goes and it thickens slightly. 
  4. Add the chicken, 1/2 cup water, salt and boil on low-medium heat till 75% cooked.
  5. Separately, boil basmati rice till almost cooked with ghee, salt, cinnamon and cloves. Strain it. 
  6. Layer with masala, rice and chicken. Cook covered on simmer for 15 minutes. 
  7. Garnish with fried onions and coriander leaves.
