Ingredients:
1/2 kg prawns
1 big onion (sliced)
To dry roast and then grind:
1 big onion
4 Kashmiri chilis
2 cloves garlic
1 tsp coriander seeds
1 tsp cumin/jeera seeds
1 tsp pepper corns
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp tamarind paste
4 tbsp coconut milk powder
Steps:
- Dry roast the onion, Kashmiri chili, garlic, coriander, cumin, peppercorns separately. Grind along with turmeric powder, tamarind paste and coconut milk powder, adding water 1/2 cup at a time till thw masala is smooth.
- In a vessel, heat oil.
- Add the sliced onion and fry till brown.
- Add the ground masala and the masala water according to desired consistency (shouldn't be too thin) and bring to a boil.
- Add prawns and salt. Bring to a boil.
- If desired, add raw mangoes and bring to a boil.
